I've read that the Christian And Missionary Alliance is the only Christian Denomination that is not a denomination. Maybe that was meant as a tongue in cheek remark, but it may not fall terribly short of the mark in describing the Alliance. Paul L. King wrote in response to a question about the C&MA stance on 6 day creation: The Alliance certainly believes in a literal creation, but does not specify the time frame in which it happened and the details of how it happened. So there are people and churches in the Alliance who believe in a six day creation period and people who believe in other explanations and time frames. The Alliance is a "big tent", focusing on the Fourfold Gospel and the Great Commission, emphazing unity in the essentials, liberty in the non-essentials, and charity in all things, thereby not setting parameters about certain specific debatable issues such as Calvinism and Armininism, various views of the rapture, and various views of creation, among others. The Alliance does not support theistic evolution, but makes room for various interpretations of Genesis 1. Our founder A.B. Simpson himself leaned toward the Gap Theory--a gap between Gen. 1:1 and Gen. 1:2, but this is not a C&MA denominational position. You will find Alliance churches differ from one other in surprising ways (there is even a Messianic Jewish Church in Florida that is part of the Alliance), but perhaps the only thing that ties us together is our desire to see Jesus' Great Commision fulfilled. This is our Doctrinal Statement. This is what we stand for and what we believe. If you believe the same, check our page that discribes the C&MA logo. It will further define our mission. In addition to learning about the elements of the logo, check the links that follow each description for sermons from our pastor, Robert Thomas, on each of the four elements of the logo.
